Carlos Santana Endorses MGM Resorts for MGM Springfield Project

SPRINGFIELD (MA) February 7, 2013 – MGM Resorts International today announced that legendary guitarist and 10-time Grammy award winner Carlos Santana has recorded a public service announcement for MGM Springfield. Viewers will soon be seeing the short video featuring the Mexican-born Santana on the MGM Springfield website and Facebook page.

The 30-second PSA features Santana, who regularly performs at MGM Resorts venues, talking about MGM as a great company and employer that "truly cares."

He also says: "I play MGM Resorts venues all the time. And I can tell you that nobody puts out better entertainment than they do."

Bill Hornbuckle, MGM Resorts President and Chief Marketing Officer and MGM Springfield President, thanked Santana for lending his voice to the MGM Springfield project.

"MGM has unparalleled experience in attracting high-profile, preeminent entertainment to its venues," Hornbuckle said. "We look forward to bringing first-class entertainment like Carlos Santana that will offer more options and unique benefits to the people of Springfield."

Like all its planned investments throughout the entire City of Springfield, MGM has committed to build on the city’s strengths and traditions by leveraging existing institutions, infrastructure and programs such as the MassMutual Center and Symphony Hall. MGM’s entertainment partnerships will help establish Springfield as a world-class leisure and entertainment destination.

Santana was chosen as a widely-known and respected artist whose appeal bridges all age groups and cultural heritages.

In May 2012, Santana began a two-year run of unique performances - "An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live - Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow" – in the specially re-configured House of Blues at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.

MGM Springfield is proposed for about 10 acres of land between Union and State streets, and Columbus Avenue and Main Street. MGM is seeking the sole gaming license in Western Massachusetts. Since unveiling plans in August to develop MGM Springfield, a more than $800 million world-class residential, retail, dining and entertainment district, MGM Resorts continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to the entire City of Springfield and its existing infrastructure.
