MGM Springfield to Update City Leaders in November

SPRINGFIELD (MA) October 14, 2015 – MGM Springfield today announced that the next round of project updates with city officials will take place in the next 30 days. Since announcing design changes that will relocate the 250 room hotel onto Main Street, MGM executives have held a series of meetings with local officials inviting questions and comments about the updated design.

MGM Springfield President Michael Mathis said, "Over the last two weeks we have been working very hard to get key stakeholders the information they deserve, and to address any concerns they may have. These discussions have been extremely productive. We look forward to providing more details to the Mayor and City Council."

Officials can expect to hear updates regarding the ongoing local historic discussions, concepts for a new marquee and the latest developments on the offsite residential programming for the project, including the potential for a condominium component.

Mathis said, "The elected officials of Springfield care deeply about their city and its residents. We want to work alongside them to improve the economic outlook for this city. We have appreciated the thoughtful questions and feedback they have provided to date, and look forward to their ongoing contributions to this project."

Last week MGM Resorts International President Bill Hornbuckle announced the company had entered into an agreement to purchase 195 State to relocate the planned market-rate apartments off-site. Additionally, Hornbuckle and Mathis confirmed that they are in talks to redevelop more residential units at other downtown locations that would complement the MGM Springfield development.

MGM Springfield must still obtain local and state approval for its updated design.
